He is an Indian film and television actor. He acts in a number of Super Hit Hindi movies like Lagaan (2001), Gangaajal (2003), Swades (2004), and Raajneeti (2010). He began his career with the film Pehla Nasha (1993). He also has/had roles in television programmes like Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (as Chaloo Pandey), Veera (as Surjeet Singh), Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev (as Lakulish), etc.
His original name is Dayashankar Pandey who was born on 19th November, 1965 in Mumbai. In Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, he is a police inspector. He always plans to go out with his wife Basundi, but is always hindered by the civilians of the society and when he tries to solve their problems, the civilians of the society solve the problems within themselves.
Whenever Jethalal visits the police station, Chaloo Pandey always blames Jethalal before listening his complaint. Chaloo Pandey’s favourite dialogue is “Mera naam hai Chaloo Pandey, Agar jooth bologe to padenge dande”.
